Background and solution

Holmes Accountancy were planning an office move into larger premises that would afford them additional space and several other office areas suitable for offering to tenants.

Tidy were engaged in the planning phase of the new office building and working with the Holmes team, managed the complete fit out of structured cabling for the main and tenant offices in order that connectivity could be maximised and optimised.

As part of the office move, it was important to Holmes that they would have a robust IT solution in place that would be suitable for them at the point of the move, but would also offer capacity for growth without incurring additional future expense.

Immediately prior to the move and working with the Holmes team, Tidy specified, procured, installed and configured a new server infrastructure in order that Holmes were utilising a modern hardware platform for their networking, file sharing and applications. Backup processes were a major consideration, coupled with keeping ongoing maintenance and management costs to a minimum.

Tidy implemented a Cloud backup solution that ensures the Holmes data is securely backed up and is readily available should disaster ever strike. In addition to the ongoing monitoring and management of the backup processes, Tidy are also able to recover individual files when required, should the need ever arise.

In order to keep software costs to a minimum, Tidy also moved the Holmes team onto the Microsoft Office 365 platform. This has enabled Holmes to take full advantage of Exchange functionality for email and shared calendars and tasks – but also ensures that email is available to them regardless of location. They no longer need to be reliant on their own office communications infrastructure and servers to deliver and manage email – it is available via any internet connection with no difference in usability.
Holmes now also take advantage of the O365 platform to purchase their Office licencing, which helps to ensure that they are always on the latest versions of their important applications, and affords them the benefit of a subscription pricing model, rather than the previously required capital expense of software licencing.
